The Align T-Rex has recently taken the electric
helicopter market by storm! The potent combination of great performance,
affordable entry costs and VERY affordable upgrades and spare parts have
made the T-Rex the helicopter of choice for everyone in our local group,
and a huge number of heli pilots around the globe. The T-Rex 450X XL CDE
flies great, and includes eCCPM mixing. Replacement parts are very
affordable and Align has been cranking out anodized aluminium upgrade
parts at an incredible rate with market busting prices hence the new
head.

Larger than typical micro-helis like the CP Piccolo,
Hornet X3d, Hummingbird 3DPro, and the Blade CP, the T-Rex is much more
stable in hover and can handle quite a bit of wind. The T-Rex is also
slightly larger than the Shogun. This is truly a great flying outdoor
heli, and is also suitable for indoor flying as long as the room is
bigger than your bedroom. When set up with a high head speed for 3D
aerobatics, the T-Rex is capable of virtually any manoeuvre. Configured
with a low head speed and heavy 'carbon' blades, the T-Rex makes a great
trainer offering long run times and a nice stable hover.
The included instructions are full of pictures and walk
you through construction step by step. it's a great way to get
familiar with the way the heli mechanics work. Sooner or later you'll be
repairing the heli, and it's a big advantage to have the pictures and
procedures in the manual to help you put everything back together
properly.
The T-Rex XL is a great heli for learning! From initial
hovering to learning advanced 3D maneuvers, I found that the chief
concern for learning pilots is the cost of a crash. Replacement parts
are so inexpensive that a typical crash costs on average about 10 - 15
pounds. This
is far less than a full size electric heli even less expensive than the
smaller micro size helis! Many pilots have found that crashing is not as
financially painful as with other helis, and that tends to allow you to
push your limits a little more, and progress a little faster.
